16th December 2020 1

Hi All

It has been a little over 12 months since I was invited to come have a look at Moonshots by Rick Carter. The observer in me never rests and to see the progress in that time and particularly the Founders Institute initiative I would like to say well done All. I believe this is the thing which epitomises the core of the Moonshots Collective’s capability.

Founder Institute ’s ’10 year impact report,’ features insights from 15,000 founders.

“Over the next 10 years we plan to leverage this global network for the greater good, and help entrepreneurs build businesses that can positively impact society,” added the entrepreneur. Get in to the website and have a look… Even if it is just to see whose faces you recognise To know more: https://fi.co/

Robe Council Initial payment What and Why $4750 and How and When $4750 plan

With a limited amount of funding (say $500) for each phase Rick needs to know who is interested in contributing to either or both plans.

Members will be paid for services delivered under the plan. Firstly from grant funding and then from business throughout this and other regions who become your clients. And I am sure you will have the opportunity to gain equity in businesses we help develop!

To help us grow we will be asking all Collective members (company or individual)

Initial membership fee of $50. Then $25 per month once the full plan has secured the funding to start. Opportunities exist for all members, if you wish to be part of it. Your business will be a preferred supplier to all programs.

Loftus are already part of it and working directly with the Council on a plan to deliver High Speed Internet to the town.

Given this is regional not just Robe a Project Name name is required- email your thoughts.

Geoff Dening’s suggestion is Kanawikna

The term kanawinka is taken from the language of the Buandik aboriginal peoples, the traditional owners of the land and means “Land of Tomorrow”. Buandik lands stretched along the coast in the far south of modern day South Australia and across to the Victorian border regions. The geological fault line which runs from the Naracoorte area down and across into Victoria is known as the Kanawinka Fault Line and the name was also given to a parish in the Casterton/Coleraine area.

A website development that has all the info in this doc available for Robe / Limestone Coast and other communities we want to engage eg Pt Lincoln and Onkaparinga. Rick has suggested to pay Ravi from Research Sat a small fee to develop the website …. because he is quite good at it and as his business goes through the valley of death on the way to his first launch he needs to eat and pay rent.

Founders Institute – to be involved in 2021 as a sponsor, mentor, supporter let us know

12 months of nurturing an idea is now in action. Thank you to Shayne Yeend and Imagination Games for providing a space for the collective to meet and begin this process.

have a good week all

Robe Update; where the progress is at for the minute.

Regional path with the whole Moonshots concept.

With Founder Institute possibly one or two will get through the whole program

Moonshots – Do different better.

A business incubator for new and existing businesses to be developed.

Eddie Blass’s Inventorium has a ‘kick-starter’ program which is a pre-accelerator/pre-incubator / small business program which people work through over a year to gain the education they need to start their business. It is not like any of the current offerings as the focus is on educating the business owner rather than focussing on the business development, and it is not rushed in any way by a fixed term before pitching for finance. People who complete this would be better placed for FI or some other accelerator if they wanted to go on to that. This is a foundation year for people who are not ready for that, don’t have a good idea yet, or have an idea but it is converting their barn into an Air bnb.

Demo site is https://kickstarterdemo@inventorium.com.au – sign up for a guest login.

Opportunities exist for all members, if you wish to be part of it. Your business will be a preferred supplier to all programs.

Soon we will institute a monthly Collective membership fee of $50 to support on going activities inc the Bar on Friday

Moonshots has begun to lift off in the past few weeks

“At Moonshots Creative we are very pleased that our team has been approved to relaunch this prestigious Silicon Valley based global program in South Australia#FoundersInstituteIt is very much part of our Global alliance network along with Carnegie Mellon University Australia Alumni and hosting International Business Growth Radio shows ibgr.network
Currently the Team are undergoing training to prepare for the relaunch.

Rick’s personal focus will be on unearthing the Encore Entrepreneurs in our midst.Encore entrepreneurs are individuals who are interested in leveraging their career and life experience to start and grow their own business. It’s a fast-growing market: people in their 50’s and beyond who are creating businesses from their experience, expertise, interests and skills. Their experience and work ethic is helping encore entrepreneurs create some of the most successful new businesses around.

With a personal interest in inspiring people who have recently gone through a traumatic event (unemployment, cancer etc) to harness Post Traumatic Growth to change their life and the lives of others.

Our diverse leadership team have a variety of individual aims that will help us develop a diverse cohort in our first FI program early in 2021.  Moonshots Collective members are encouraged to contribute and assist the Leadership TeamEddie and Naiyer, for the coming relaunch of the Founders Institute. Our combined knowledge, enterprise and “can do” character is part of why we have been approved and a little by us all will assist in starting this smoothly and efficiently.

Hi All,

Wednesday 7th September “We have lift off” Zoom with MOONSHOTS!!.

Send apologies if you cannot join us in orbit.

Several topics were covered on last weeks Zoom

The Carnegie Mellon University Alumni would increase the use of the Moonshots space and add contributors to the activities. The strategic and activity benefits are well worth nurturing the CMU connection into Moonshots.

Founders Institute are looking to join with the Moonshots Collective. Combining the franchise template with the knowledge and business mentoring base of Moonshots.

Re: looking for business plan assistance. Recieved this email from one of our collective, James Rolevink (edited version)

“To be honest, passion, vision, never taking no for an answer, pestering until people give in and being a shameless networking whore are more my thing. I think there’s even an argument to be made that, in the right context, stubbornness and wilful /naive ignorance about that which ‘can’t be’ or ‘isn’t done’ become super powers.

As such, I know I could use some help developing a business plan + honing a pitch for ACC, SA Gov, all the new friends I’m making and anyone else who might be interested.”

Adding the right people to our collective.

If you have people to introduce please let Rick know.

1) A Social Enterprise; to run our function space and bar. Rent will be free until the venture can afford some revenue sharing (3 – 6 months)

2) The following Monthly options are available for Collective membership

$50 for casual drop in meetings etc

$150 for a shared desk – adjacent to the front window on the ground floor

$450 for one of the available 1 person offices

$650 for the slightly bigger offices on the Southern side.

All members have access to Gigabit Internet, Boardroom incl Video Conferencing, Meeting area on ground floor adjacent Casual Desks and free use of function space.

The weekly Friday at Entrepreneurs Bar @Moonshots the best social way to keep in touch with the activity of individuals in the collective and connected projects.

CMU emphasizes close collaborations between faculty and students to address scientific, technological and societal challenges, as well as making things ‘from art to robots’.

The university lays claim to many examples of ground-breaking inventions and pioneering research into brain science, data, start-ups and driverless cars, among others. It was the first institution (via professor Scott Fahlman in 1982) to create a ‘smile’ in an email.

Its cohort numbers well over 13,000 students from 114 countries, and a faculty of more than 1,400.

With its strong focus on creating new things, CMS says that many of its students go on to join some of the world’s most successful companies. The Association of University Technology Managers has ranked it first among US institutions for start-up companies created per research dollar spent, between 2008 and 2012.
